Rev Up for Good Times at the Norcross Car Show
Posted @ May. 02 2011 10:19AM by Ray - arts-entertainmentOn May 21st , 2011, downtown Norcross streets will be lined with about 300 of the most spectacular hot rods, antique cars, trucks, motorcycles, and new cars. You will not want to miss this year’s Norcross Car Show. It gets better and bigger every year!
This show was started in 1997 by a group of men to help with the medical cost for their friend Dodger DeLeon’s daughter, Kristi, who died as a result of a car accident later that year. Kristi was studying to become a nurse, thus the Kristi Memorial Scholarship was established.
The first show was so successful that a car show committee was formed and now the show is in its 14th year. Proceeds from the event help fund scholarships for students who are studying in the medical field. Over the years, the event has helped 69 students achieve their goals. Over $211,000 has been donated to scholarships and to other civic and community projects.
The car show has been so successful because of the support from the City of Norcross, local businesses, the people who live in our great community and surrounding towns and most of all for the people who take their time to bring their cars to our show. Sponsors are located all over the United States. Thanks to everyone for all that you do for the car show!
This year we will have 25 awards, door prizes, 50-50 drawing, and a 350 Chevrolet engine for registered participants only, donated by Nash Chevrolet. The show will feature a silent auction during the day and a bake sale with lots of homemade goodies. And, don’t forget to come eat some of the best hot dogs and hamburger grilled just the way you like them! There will also be a chance to win great prizes! You can buy raffle tickets: $5 each to win $1,000, and $3 for one ticket or $5 for two tickets to win a grill on a trailer, built just for the car show.
If you would like to make any donation to the car show, call at 770-448-2664 or send correspondence to 525 Dogwood Circle, Norcross, GA, 30071.
Don’t forget the date: May 21st from 8 am – 4 pm! Come and join us for a fun-filled day!
