Almost 400 guests are expected at the North Gwinnett Schools Foundation’s (NGSF) annual gala dinner and auction on Saturday, October 22, 2011, at Bear’s Best Suwanee. The “Big T’Do” is the foundation’s sole fundraiser, and money generated from the event is used to enhance the quality of public education for students in the North Gwinnett cluster. Last year, the event raised almost $70,000.
More than 50 items have been donated and will be available for bidding at the Big T’Do this year. Among the items included are luxury vacations in Turks and Caicos and Las Ventanas del Mar in Costa Rica, a full set of braces, a suite at the Braves game, several rounds of golf, gym memberships and sports memorabilia. Attendees may also bid on experiences such as 15 minutes of fame on the Suwanee Town Center stage.
The NGSF serves a six-school cluster that includes Level Creek, Suwanee, Riverside and Roberts Elementary schools, as well as North Gwinnett Middle School and North Gwinnett High School. Since 2001, the NGSF has provided more than $380,000 in the form of grants that teachers apply for, and administers six scholarships for high school seniors at North Gwinnett High School.
Anyone wishing to support the Foundation may do so by making a monetary donation, providing auction items or by sponsoring a table at the Gala. Please visit the North Gwinnett Schools Foundation website at www.northgwinnettschoolsfoundation.org for more information.
