Simpsonwood United Methodist Church Summer Food Drive

This summer, Simpsonwood UMC (SUMC) is on a mission to collect more than 10,000 food items for the Neighborhood Cooperative Ministries (NCM). The food drive will culminate with the Great Day of Service on Sunday, August 14.  On that day, SUMC will caravan the collected food to NCM, volunteers will physically stock the NCM shelves, tour NCM’s new facility, and enjoy a complimentary lunch. SUMC also would like to encourage neighbors and local businesses to participate in this canned food drive and help them meet their goal of 10,000 food items. Desired food items include:

  • Canned fruits
  • Canned soups
  • Boxed cereals – large & variety packs
  • Ramen Noodles
  • Meal in a Can – chili, beef stew, Chef Boyardee
  • Beans – black and red
  • Mac & Cheese

To make it easy to donate food items, SUMC will hold drive thru drop off events at the church from 3-5pm on the following Sunday’s:

  • July 10
  • July 17
  • July 24
  • July 31

Simpsonwood UMC’s food drive mission project directly helps NCM in providing food for families in need in the Peachtree Corners and Norcross communities. Simpsonwood UMC is a place of worship located in Peachtree Corners, Georgia. SUMC is dedicated to working with ministry partners and community organizations to address poverty, hunger, homelessness, women and children’s needs both locally and globally. Neighborhood Cooperative Ministries (NCM) is a faith-based, non-profit, ecumenical ministry dedicated to providing emergency assistance to families in Norcross, Peachtree Corners, Doraville and Tucker, Georgia in Gwinnett County. NCM is supported by 24 local churches and numerous businesses, civic and social organizations, foundations, and individuals. Many new ministries have been added focusing on personal sustainability including job readiness classes, on-site hiring events, money management courses, health fairs, as well as children’s programs, case management, and spiritual programs.
